Color Inspiration: Lime and Electric Blue

This week’s inspiration is another combination that truly packs a punch for both interior design and event colors!  We found the room pictured below on a great interior design blog http://www.momoy.com/ .  The designs they feature are all fresh and unique and of course color inspiring!  To recreate the look we used rock candy which is always a fun favor for both adults and kids at any event and is available in a variety of colors to correspond with your theme!

Make it personal…

Whenever I am invited to a bridal shower, one of the first questions that crosses my mind is "buy a gift from the registry, or a fun personal gift the bride isn’t expecting".  As a former bride, I know the answer should always be "a gift from the registry" because let’s be honest, that’s what the registry is there for!  So why not do both?  Pick an item or two from the registry and personalize it by adding a little something extra such as these cute aprons from Anthropologie that could match the bride’s personal taste or wedding colors, or even cupcake mixes and a cookbook from Williams Sanoma to help the new couple start their baking off on the right foot.

Color Inspiration: Turquoise and Red

We are always on the lookout for fun and powerful color combinations.  While searching for inspiration online, I came across Brides.com’s most beautiful cakes of America article and was immediately blown away by the amazing cake pictured below.  Turquoise and Red, what a statement!  The combination is fresh and perfect for both summer and winter events.  The cake was created by Robyn Loves Cake located in Goleta, CA (their website features a ton of photos of their fabulous creations: http://robynlovescake.com/).  Thank you Robyn Loves Cake for the inspiration!

Watermelon, the perfect summer treat!

Nothing says summer like a picnic…and nothing says picnic like watermelon.  We found these watermelon salt water taffies at Wegmans (a local grocery store) and thought they would be perfect for a pink and green wedding, a picnic party favor, or whenever you need a watermelon fix without all the mess!

Custom cards on a budget

Everyone seems to be on a tight budget these days.  For this reason, I am absolutely addicted to the $1 spot at Target.  Searching through their bins one day, I came across these packs of cards (8 cards and envelopes for $1 - a great deal!).  While the price was right, I still felt like they were a little plain and needed that "personal" touch.  We added a little ribbon and a couple stickers for a more customized, and most importantly, budget-friendly set of stationary!

Navy, the new black?

With winter right around the corner, colors are starting to deepen to darker, richer tones. Navy has always been one of those classic winter colors, but this winter we are seeing trends drift away from the standard silver and white complimentary colors.  Whether it’s paired with fuchsia, electric green, orange, red, light pink or light blue, navy just may take the place of black and brown this winter season!

M&Ms to the extreme

M&Ms have offered custom messages for a little while now but recently they took personalization to a whole new level.  Now you can actually order m&ms with photos on them!  How cute would these be for a couples shower with half the candies displaying the bride and the other half displaying the groom, or even cuter, used for a little kid’s birthday party!

Happy Kids = Happy Guests

With the many many items on a bride’s to-do list, it’s easy to forget that toasts, cake cutting, and (in their mind) the long dinner hour can seem a little boring to the kiddos.  Instead of giving them the traditional favor, put together a small activity kit with crayons, a coloring book, small toys, or games to keep them busy and most importantly keep them happy!

Thinking outside the truffle…

Everyone loves a good truffle, but when budget is involved they can quickly increase the cost of your favors.  There are numerous alternatives available to take the place of the truffle and can be found in your local grocery store, or better yet, bought in bulk at Costco!  Hershey kisses for example, aren’t just plain silver wrappers anymore.  They are available in a variety of flavors and wrappers that could coordinate with your wedding colors.   It’s time to get creative!
